Come and Drink
Beloved friends, I want to speak to your heart today: there is a fountain open, an unending source of love and goodness that never runs dry. That fountain is Jesus Christ.
Every good you have ever tasted in this life – whether the kindness of a parent, the friendship of a neighbour, or the sweetness of daily bread – all has come from Him. Paul says that Christ is “Our hope is set on the living God, who is the Saviour of all people, especially of those who believe” (1 Timothy 4:10). If any creature has ever done you good, it was Christ who put that goodness there. If you have ever been comforted, it was His hand that held you. Without Him, you would still be in darkness, never hearing the Gospel.
But Christ has called you. He has given you the invitation of His abundant love. “Come to Me, all who labour and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). And this is no ordinary rest; it is peace with God, the joy of forgiveness, and the power of a new life.
The Abundance of Christ’s Love
Think of it, dear friend: the Lord does not ask you to bring riches, or works, or anything in your hand. He does not ask for a gift. He asks for your heart. And in return, He gives you Himself—the fullness of grace, pardon for sin, and everlasting life. The prophet Micah spoke of a day when “they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree, and no one shall make them afraid” (Micah 4:4). That day is fulfilled in Christ. To be joined to Him by faith is to sit in safety, to taste abundance, and to rest without fear.
This love is not shallow or changing like the love of men. It is eternal, constant, and pure. “The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand” (John 3:35), and through the Son He pours out that love upon all who believe. If the Father delights in Christ, how safe are you when you are in Him!
Life Transformed in Christ
Dear listener, your life will never be the same once you drink from this fountain. The love of Christ not only pardons but transforms. It makes the sinner into a saint, the rebel into a child of God. Jesus Himself said, “Apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). But joined to Him, you bear fruit: the fruit of holiness, joy, and obedience. This is the great wonder of grace: He first loved us (1 John 4:19). Your love for Christ is not the cause but the effect. His love comes first, His grace moves first, and His call awakens your heart. And when you come, you find that He has been waiting all along. What a wonder!
Free Invitation: No RSVP
So, I invite you — not in human strength, for you cannot save yourself, but by pointing you to Christ alone. Salvation is of the Lord. The Gospel call is wide: “To all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12). The offer is sincere and free: “Good news of great joy that will be for all the people” (Luke 2:10).
Will you remain far off? Will you continue to drink from broken cisterns while the Fountain of living waters is right in front of you? The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And the promise is this: “Whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again” (John 4:14).
A Pastoral Plea
Beloved, your life will never be the same when you come to Christ. He heals the leper, He cleanses the guilty, and He strengthens the weary. He does not turn away the sinner who calls upon His name.
Come, then, to the abundance of Christ’s love. Come, and be satisfied. Come, and your soul will live. And with the psalmist you will say, “I love the Lord, because He has heard my voice… I will call on Him as long as I live” (Psalm 116:1–2).
Oh, what a Saviour! What a fountain! What a love! Come and taste that the Lord is good.
Amen.
